It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #57

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey meant to highlight books you read in the past week, and what you’re planning on reading this week.

So, didn’t get as much reading done as I could, because I’ve been working on my Emerging Leaders project (slow going), and shopping for some new clothes to wear at conferences and possible job interviews. Finding pants that fit and look good is HARD. I kind of hate pants shopping.

This coming week will be insanely busy. On Memorial Day, I’m marching in a couple of parades to earn BEA spending cash. Then, Wednesday night the big band I play trumpet in will be on WGBH’s auction. That’s the Boston PBS station. It should be fun, although it’s going to be a really late night for me. I probably won’t get home until after midnight, which stinks because I wake up at 5:30 am every day. Not sure how much reading I’ll be able to get done!

Finished:
Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris
My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf

Continuing to read:
11/22/63 by Stephen King (audiobook)

Hoping to finish:
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
How Can I Be Your Lover When I’m Too Busy Being Your Mother by Sara Dimerman and J.M. Kearns

What are your reading plans this week? Are you doing anything for Memorial Day?

  1. It is a very busy week. Wish I was going to BEA. Lucky you!

I love Charlain Harris, and 11/22/63 is on it’s way and will hopefully arrive this week. It will actually be the firs book I read by Stephen King! Have a wonderful (and busy) reading week. Hugs from Anette in Norway :)

I love reading Stephen King books! If you like it, try reading Four Seasons. It has four short stories in it, and three of them were made into movies, including Stand By Me and the Shawshank Redemption.

  3. I just 11/22/63 this week and I’m looking forward to reading it. And I’ve seen Code Name Verity around and it looks interesting. Hope you enjoy your books this week.

    • Audrey Audrey says:

I’m enjoying 11/22/63 much more than Code Name Verity. I just don’t think it’s the right book for me :-(

  4. Code Name Verity sounds good..heard about this book, but didn’t buy it yet. Happy reading!

Give it a sample before you buy. I’m having a hard time getting through it, so I definitely think it isn’t for everyone.

Totally sympathize with you on the shopping for pants. I am under 5′ tall and can never find pants with 29 inch inseams. I’ve been seeing a lot of positive reviews for Code Name Verity. Think I’ll be adding that one to the TBR. Happy reading!

    • Audrey Audrey says:

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only person with pants problems! It was easier when I lived with my mom and she’d shorten them for me.

You have a fabulous blog! I’m an author and illustrator and I made some awards to give fellow bloggers whose sites I enjoy. I want to award you with one of my homemade awards: Best Books Blog Award. There are no pass along requirements. This is just to reward you for all the hard work you do!

P.S. Since you are an avid reader I was wondering if I could interview you and get your insights into the books you enjoy. Send me an email: KnightessHope (at) gmail and I will send over the interview questions

  7. Code Name Verity is very hot at my library! Did you like it??

    What are YOU reading??

    • Audrey Audrey says:

I’m about 2/3 done reading it, but it’s been a real slog for me. I think I’m a bad match for this book, but I’m continuing hoping for a huge payout to make it worth it.

  8. Lindsey says:

It sounds like you’re having a busy, but wonderful week. How fun that you get to play for the auction! How long have you been playing?
