In My Bookbag #26

Welcome again to In My Bookbag. This is my version of In My Mailbox, a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren.

I’ve been continuing to try to cut down on my library check outs in favor of reading my stack of review books. However, audiobooks don’t count, since I consume them in a different way, and I managed to bring home two of the audiobooks I’d been coveting for a while.

Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

I absolutely loved Going Bovine last year, so when I heard about this book I knew I needed to read it.

Teen beauty queens. A “Lost”-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to email. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.

The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan
I’ve heard really good things about this book, so I’m going to give it a go.

One last full moon – then it will all be over.
Jacob Marlowe has lost the will to live. For two hundred years he has wandered the world, enslaved by his lunatic appetites and tormented by the memory of his first and most monstrous crime. Now, the last of his kind, he knows he cannot go on.
But as Jake counts down to suicide, a violent murder and an extraordinary meeting plunge him straight back into the desperate pursuit of life – and love.  Sexy, smart, bloody and heartbreaking,
The Last Werewolf takes literature by the throat.

That’s it for now. Going to get some reading done while I hunker down from Hurricane Irene. What did you get this week?
